If you run a trade business, you already know the job isn’t over when the tools go back in the truck. The homeowner is still deciding whether they’d call you again — and whether they’d tell anyone else.
A Google review is how that decision shows up for the next person. Most customers will not leave one unless you make it easy.
People look you up before they call
A homeowner with a leak, a breaker that keeps tripping, or a yard that needs work does not start with your website. They start with Google. Your name, your stars, and a few sentences from people like them — that’s the pitch before you ever pick up the phone.
Three reviews and a 4.2 looks thin next to a shop with forty reviews and a 4.8. The work can be the same. The homeowner does not see it that way. They are trying not to get burned.
Reviews also help you show up on Google Maps. More real reviews, a complete Business account, a site that matches — that’s how you get found when someone nearby searches for what you do.
Text them the review link when the job is done
The best time to ask is right after the work is finished, while they’re still standing in the room you just fixed. Don’t wait a week. Don’t wait until they “get around to it.”
Send a short text with your Google review link. One message. The link should open the review form — not your Facebook page, not a search for your name they have to hunt through.
Something like: “Glad we got it done. If you have a minute, a Google review helps other homeowners find us:” and then the link. That’s it. You’re not writing a speech. You’re handing them a door that’s already open.
Hand them a card they can scan
Some people will not tap a link in a text. A card they can keep is the other half of the same ask.
Paste that same Google review link into the free QR Code Generator. It will turn the web address into a QR code image you can save. Print it on a business card and hand it over when the job is done — at the door, with the invoice, before you pull away.
One link. Two ways to get there. The text catches them on the phone. The card is still on the counter when they have a minute later.
If you’d rather someone handle it
Asking only works if people can find you in the first place. Turnkey Tech handles that for tradesmen in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. After a short conversation, I design and build the site, put it live, and set up your Google Business account so you show up on Google Maps. You can see how it works and what it costs on the homepage, or just call or text if you want to talk it through.
